As the other guy said, Beckett's Jyhad Diary is the official metaplot book leading into V5. V5 is picking up from a mixture of Revised and 2nd Edition metaplot, ignoring that Gehenna happened, but keeping some things like the Week of Nightmares and the Assamite Schism. The Gehenna sourcebook for the RPG has some scenarios that talk about the 1000 Year Rule of Caine, but there are four separate scenarios in that book that have different outcomes.
There wasn't anything posited in the Gehenna novel. I think it was more to tell Beckett that, while he didn't learn everything, what he DID was worthwhile. Beckett brings this up near the end, particularly when his Gangrel clan flaw starts failing.Ĭaine states himself that he wanted to see the world after his long stint in Kaymakli, and that 'his children had shown him something he'd forgotten'.

The new stuff follows after second edition under the pretense that the particular Gehenna was averted somehow,but suggests that Gehenna may be cyclical in nature. The novel ends with Beckett earth melding,so we don’t really have a full picture of what will happen based on the Gehenna sourcebook.Ĥ.Gehenna,the final event that happened after second edition,was retconned. Thin bloods may continue the curse,or may revert to being human. Some antediluvians like Tzimisce or Lasombra may have survived since they are no longer cainites,but the majority of kindred would’ve met final deaths. We’ll likely never know what happened to him.ģ.We can only guess what happens after Gehenna. While he didn’t repent completely,he wasn’t evil either. He presumably sacrificed himself so that young Beckett can live for a couple more days. The withering was not resolved,leading to the thinning of blood/final death of many cainites,and likely wiped out most,of not all vampires.Ģ.Caine revealed himself to Beckett because he had also lost his power,and was kinda tired of existence. While the reason behind the withering was not specified in the novel,one would presume its god’s punishment,since even caine himself was affected.
